Is this the right course for me?
Studying Geography enables students to study the world we live in and question the human and physical processes that occur. It will enable them to become global citizens, developing a wide range of skills and thought processes used in today’s globalised world. Skills developed include research, analysis, extended writing, presentation and enquiry.

Geography is a very broad subject which means you gain a whole range of skills including communication, analysis and numerical skills. As a result it is a subject which is applicable to any future career path. It’s also good to keep your options open if you aren’t sure what you want to do.
How to support your child
Geography students should watch the news regularly to become comfortable with local and global affairs. Discussing these with your child, encouraging them to form considered opinions will develop their transferable skills to be used in Geography as well as other subjects.
Students should be encouraged to read around the subject and observe the world around them to become increasingly familiar with the concepts and ideas taught in lessons.
Students should also be encouraged to think synoptically, revising previous topics as they go in order to use what they know to understand new concepts.
