As we edge towards the end of the academic year, I can assure you there is no slowing of pace at SRS! It has been a brilliant week of celebrating our students’ performance talents, with the summer showcase on Tuesday and the Year 6 production on Thursday; events which really are highlights in our school calendar. Thank you to all the parents, friends and family members who joined us in celebrating our young peoples’ achievements, and as ever my thanks to the staff who make such brilliant events possible, giving our young people their chances to shine.
Today denotes a political landmark. Our SRS mock election results were shared across the secondary site this morning, along with the actual election results. The mock election process provided an important opportunity for our students to learn, in real- time, about democracy, the importance of exercising our democratic rights and honouring the battles fought for our freedom to vote. Our mock election results mirrored those of the general election outcome, with over 1000 students and staff casting their vote. My thanks to all staff and students to engaged with and supported our election preparation over the past two weeks, with particular thanks to Mr Fells, Head of History & Politics, for coordinating such an impactful programme.
There’s lots to read in this week’s newsletter – enjoy!
To quote Mr Fells, “Let’s hope Gareth Southgate is feeling more Starmer than Rishi after tomorrow’s game!”.
Have a good weekend.
Mrs Cross
