Professional Flatland BMXer and Guinness World Record holder Matti Hemmings displayed his skills in our central playground during period 5 on Monday 14th July to a mixed audience of year 7, 8 and 9 students.
This performance happened as our school won the Sustrans organised event where numbers of pupils and teachers were recorded cycling to and from school for the week starting 23rd June. We won with a grand total of 256 points (way ahead of the competition).
Matti Hemmings certainly impressed our teachers and pupils. He performed some highly impressive BMX tricks combined with a talk about dedication, hard work and explanations about applying yourself to achieve your ambitions.
Many students stayed behind to ask for autographs before he left.
The school hopes to see more events of this nature taking place in the next school year.
