You may have read the letter from NHS Test and Trace about the new quicker Covid19 tests. I am very pleased to be able to inform you that we are working hard to be able to introduce these tests into our weekly school routines from early January 2021. Staff and student safety has been my priority throughout this pandemic and this weekly testing regime will help keep our school community even safer. I recommend the testing programme to you and urge you to support your son/daughter to take part in it.
The testing programme will allow our staff and students to work safely. Up to one third of people who have coronavirus have no symptoms, so through this testing programme and self-isolating we will save lives and help keep our school open and as safe as possible. This programme will also help our students to stay in education, by enabling close contacts of someone who tests positive to stay at school by doing ‘serial testing’, a daily test for seven days.
Participation in this testing programme is voluntary, but I would encourage everyone to take it. I myself will be taking the test. Students must have parental consent. Please would you follow the link below in order to give consent for your son/daughter to take part in this testing programme.
A letter from the NHS with more details of the process has been put onto our website for your reference.
I look forward to your continued support and together I hope we can beat this virus and regain some normality. Please have a safe Christmas and I wish a happy 2021.
