This week’s remembrance events have enabled us all to reflect on the significance of the actions of those who fought and died to protect life and freedom. On Thursday we observed a two minute silence to commemorate Armistice on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Every pupil and staff member gathered in the playgrounds, the sun shone and the respect shown by all was commendable – it was a very moving event. Our thanks go to Emily Poole (Y11) and Mr Mitchell for playing The Last Post and La réveille.
As we entered the winter months we were advised that we may see increased numbers of Covid cases in the community. I have sent a letter via the website and SIMS Parent App today to all parents to advise that we have seen an increase in Covid cases in school this week. We are in contact with public health officials and we are following all the relevant guidance.
We continue to have enhanced hand hygiene across the school as well as good ventilation in classrooms. We urge parents to ensure twice weekly lateral flow testing continues at home for secondary age children. Testing kits are available from the school reception on both sites which student and parents can collect. Please continue to notify us of any Covid-related absence by calling 0203 959 9900 and selecting option 9.
We thank you for your continued support. Wishing you all a restful weekend.
Mrs Cross
