Yesterday we welcomed 21 school leaders from Nigeria to SRS. It was a wonderful day with students having the opportunity to show our school to guests and join them in a cultural celebration at break time. Ms Abankwah, Mr Dimakos and I were presented with a gele (headdress) and an ileke (necklace) which were an honour to wear. Our guests were hugely complimentary of our school and our students. We look forward to continued collaboration with our Nigerian colleagues and we hope for the opportunity to return the visit to them one day.
My thanks to all who have supported our celebration of black history over the past weeks. For us, our focus on black history is important every month, not just in October. However, we enjoy this as a focal point for one of many of our cultural celebrations throughout the year.
The half-term holiday is much needed after a long and busy seven weeks. Our wellbeing lead would like to share a list of self-care strategies for both students and parents. Students have been made aware of the list during wellbeing Wednesday: Self Care, Anxiety, Depression, Coping Strategies | On My Mind | Anna Freud Centre
I hope you enjoy the break with your families and we look forward to seeing you all back at normal times, on Monday 31st October.
Have a great holiday!
Mrs Cross
