In the month of October we celebrate Black History Month through assemblies and a range of events and activities across the school. Understanding each other’s heritage, and respecting the special part we each play in our school community, is central to our feeling of ‘belonging’ at SRS.
This week we have been privileged to have some of our young people share their thoughts and experiences in some incredibly creative ways. I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to Jayden in Year 7 who inspired so many of us this week with his poem entitled, ‘I am still here’. It was a beautiful, deeply personal piece which has touched the hearts of many across the school; thank you Jayden for sharing this with us all, you should feel very proud of yourself, and we feel very proud of you.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Mrs Cross
