Two trips in France have been taken place in the MFL department. One for Y8 where they went to Opal Coast and another one for Y9 and Y10 students who got to visit Paris.
Opal Coast - Thursday 30th April to Friday 1st May 2026
46 year 8 students went to Opal Coast in France with 4 members of staff. We left Thursday, 30th April early in the morning from SRS to journey to Dover and catch the ferry. For many, it was their first time on it. Once we arrived in Calais, we made our way to a chocolaterie in Beussent where students were given an opportunity to learn the process of making chocolate as well as tasting samples. They were also given time to buy some chocolate souvenirs as well. We then went to Boulogne where students were able to enjoy the beach as well as the sunny weather before heading to our accommodation. The next day, we left Boulogne to go a visit the Nausicaa aquarium. From there, we went to Le Touquet where we, once more, went to the beach. Many enjoy playing in the sand, as well as beach volleyball. Finally, we made our way to Calais and arrived back to SRS late in the evening.
Paris, France - Wednesday 20th May to Friday 22nd May 2026
15 students in year 9 and year 10 went to Paris with three members of staff. Students arrived early in the morning at SRS before we all made our way to St Pancreas to take the Eurostar. Once we arrived to Gare du Nord, we went to our hotel where students were given time to drop off their bags, refresh a little, go and explore some of the parts of the city. We went to a park nearby where they were able to walk along some of the area and some of the students even played basketball with other young locals. From there, we took the metro heading to the Eiffel tower, where students were given time to visit the Champs-de-Mars before heading to our evening meal restaurant. After dinner, we went and visited the Trocadero square and then head back to our hotel. On Thursday, after having breakfast, we went on a River cruise boat where students were able to see the major attractions of Paris along the Seine. Then, we enjoyed the beautiful and warm weather by walking along the Seine and visited the Louvres, followed by the Latin quarter and the Notre-Dame cathedral. They had time to go have lunch and buy souvenirs. Then, we took the metro once more to go and see the Champs-Elysées as well as the Arc de Triomphe. We concluded the day at the restaurant to have our second evening meal. Finally, on Friday, after making sure to pack everything, stored them in the hotel as we still have a few more activities to do before heading back to London. We went and visited the choco-museum before heading to Montmartre and to see the Basilica Sacré-Coeur. After exploring the town, we head back to the hotel, collected our luggage and made our way to Gare du Nord and then to SRS.
