At Key Stage 3 we offer a variety of creative practical opportunities for our learners through resistant materials, graphics, CAD/CAM and textiles. Pupils design and make products using a range of materials such as paper and card, plastics, textiles, and timber based materials. Pupils are encouraged to select and use appropriate tools and materials skilfully and safely. Product Design and Food Technology are available as options in Year 9 these subjects are continued to GCSE, the awarding body is AQA. As a department we set high expectations for our learners. DT Overview

How to support your child

In years 7 and 8 you can support your child by encouraging them to carry out short focused practical tasks with supervision. These could include replacing a missing button or helping to plan and prepare an evening meal.
All pupils should make use of www.technologystudent.com here you will find a wealth of knowledge, activities and easy to digest revision material. Pupils can make use of www.sketchup.com to draw lines, shapes, push and pull surfaces to make them into 3D shapes.
