Parents will be informed by the local authority that their child has been allocated a place at Sydney Russell; Primary
Parents will be invited for an admissions interview to be held at the school. The purpose of the interview is to welcome families and children to the school and to exchange important information.
Parents and children will be given a start date and can purchase a school uniform. A parent pay account will be set up to enable easy payment for school dinners.
The child/family will be shown around the school and where possible, see their class and teacher. The child will be allocated a ‘buddy’ to help them settle into school.
On admissions day; the pupil will be met by the teacher and buddy in order to allow for a smooth transition.
The parents will be informed of progress of the child as appropriate.
After 3 weeks the child will be formally assessed using the current government guidelines; at this time a meeting will be set up at the school to discuss the child’s assessment and how parents/families can help.
