Welcome to the summer term 2025! I hope you and your families enjoyed a restful Easter break. The students have made a great return to school this week and, as usual, we have hit the ground running!
On Wednesday evening I had the pleasure of attending the MiSST (Music in Secondary Schools Trust) annual concert at The Barbican, supporting 15 students from Y8-Y13 as they performed in a 100 strong orchestra with students from fellow MiSST partner schools.
The standard of performance and the professionalism of our students was exceptional, serving as a reminder of the importance our school vision of levelling the playing field through currency, character and cultural capital. I would like to express our congratulations to each of the students who took part, with a special mention to Temi Adebayo (Y13) who had the prestigious honour of having his composed piece played by the 100 strong symphony orchestra – it was incredible. Of course, no of this can happen without the sheer dedication and hard work of our Music department – thank you all for what you do to unlock the musical potential of our young people across the school; what starts in the primary classroom music lessons can lead to the great national stages, and beyond – thank you.
It is a hugely important term for all of our students, particularly those who have external exams starting from next week. We wish all our young people a successful term and continued happiness in their learning journey at SRS.
Have a good weekend.
