Year 9 Diphtheria/Tetanus/Polio and MeningitisACWY Immunisations

 ‘Dear Parent/Carer,

Your child in Year 9 is due their routine DTP booster along with the MEN ACWY vaccine. These vaccines are part of the childhood immunisation schedule and should not be missed.

The teenage booster, also known as the 3-in-1 or the TD/IPV vaccines is given to boost protection against 3 separate diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and polio.  It is routinely given at secondary school.

The MenACWY vaccine protects against 4 strains of the meningococcal bacteria – A,C,W and Y – which cause meningitis and blood poisoning (septicaemia).

Older teenager and new university students are at higher risk of infection because many of them mix closely with lots of new people, some of whom may unknowingly carry the meningococcal bacteria at the back of their nose and throat.

We will be hosting zoom meetings on the 29th of January and 1st of February at 4pm to discuss these vaccines, a nurse will also be present to answer any questions you may have. If you would like to join this meeting, please email us requesting the link and which date you would like to attend.

If you would like your child to receive these vaccines, please click the link below to complete the consent form.  We will be visiting your child’s school on 15/03/22 and 16/03/22.

Please still complete the form as a NO if you do not want your child to receive this vaccine.
