Our Open Evening on Monday was a fantastic evening, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from prospective parents and students alike. My thanks to the staff and students who ensured the evening ran smoothly and showcased our school at its best.

This week I had the pleasure of meeting the four students who, at the end of Year 10, were selected to attend a prestigious summer programme at Eton College, Windsor. Ola, Lexie, Cairo and Vallabh spoke emphatically about the experiences they had, what they learned and the impact the programme has had on their personal and academic development. I look forward to seeing them share this learning, both with their peers and with students who are currently in Year 10, who may be lucky enough to have a similar opportunity next year.

Next week we have the election of our Student Principal and their team, alongside the formation of our Student Council and House Captain teams, the induction of our new teams of student peer mentors and numerous student-led groups and societies across the school.

Student Leadership is such an important part of our Personal Development offer at Sydney Russell School – we quickly see the significant impact these opportunities have in developing our young peoples’ confidence, oracy and sense of responsibility.

I wish the very best to all our students who are putting themselves forward, often out of their comfort zone, to take on these new challenges – you are great role models to all in our school.

Have a great weekend.

Mrs Cross
