London Youth Games Futsal Competition

7 players from SRS travelled to Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Wednesday 7th May to compete in the London Youth Games Futsal Competition. They played in 6 group stage games. Winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 2. This meant they finished 3rd in their group and just missed out on a semi-final place. Mia, Phebie, Abbey, Jumana, Laiba, Hazel and Erin should all be proud of their performances at a tough Competition.

Cricket

London Cup

Year 7 had to put in a huge performance against Robert Clack on Wednesday to get the win and progress in the London Cup.

Clack put up a score of 127 for us to chase within 20 overs. A couple errors in our fielding let a good 30-40 runs extra with some missed catches and boundary’s that should not have been. We certainly made it harder for ourselves.
Our batting innings started a little bit shakey with batsmen quickly dropping out, leaving us with 45 runs and 5 wickets down with 6 overs. Up stepped Aarush with a heroic effort to help drag Sydney Russell through.
He managed to create solid partnerships with Shivansh, Arshie and Yahya to pull us back in the game. Some excellent batting from all of the above allowed us to take quick singles and quickly build up to the 100 mark.
Aarush kept his composure to hit big, with some 4 and 6’s, leading Sydney Russell to a heroic victory against rivals Clack.
We play Clack again next week in the Essex Cup and then Langdon the following Monday.
A win over Langdon will put us into the finals of London.
Special shoutout to debutants Yahya, Jenish and Taha.
Training is Mondays and Wednesdays after school.
