Congratulations to the following students who represented Sydney Russell round 1 of The Urban Debate League. Sydney Russell fielded 5 teams, compared to the 2 or 3 from other schools in the borough. Despite being formed at the last minute due to another school dropping out, our 5th team won both of their debates. Our teams won 7 out their 10 debates which bodes well for our ranking in the national league although this is based on a points scoring system.

Debate Mate officials also commented on how impressed they were that our senior debaters helped host the event, supporting the younger teams and, in some cases being asked by judges to provide students who had debated with individual feedback. The students involved in this were Taku U., Bianca F. and Tolu D. from 11FT as well as Nahid A., Tassin K. and Amanda D. from 12PL.

Many thanks to all the staff who supported this event as well as thos who allowed us to use their rooms.
