Griffin House is Victorious!

Congratulations to Griffin, Sydney Russell’s first ever House Cup Winner! The new House Cup Competition has been a huge success. Ms Davies’s vision was for something that would bring the different elements of the school together; show students that there was more to life at Sydney Russell than examination success and create a “buzz”. There can be no doubt that all three objectives have been achieved. None of us could have anticipated the enthusiasm and commitment staff and students would show or the range of events and competitions that were on offer.

Firstly, congratulations to Mr Dimakos for leading Griffin to victory. Rumours that he had an unfair advantage, sharing an office with Ms Darwin which enabled him to hack into the House Cup website and manipulate the points total are, of course, untrue. Secondly, congratulations are needed for Mr Carlin, Ms Costin and Ms Goode, who had the idea of a House Cup Competition. They braved an S.L.T. meeting to make their presentation and their enthusiasm and careful research shone. Thirdly, thank you to all the members of staff, teaching and non-teaching, who have contributed to events; supported them and encouraged the students.

The biggest thanks and congratulations, of course, go to Ms Darwin. Her unfailing enthusiasm, imagination and commitment has done the most to ensure the competition was a success. Thank you Ms Darwin, you made it happen.

Griffin have no time to bask in the glow of victory as the 2017 – 18 competition begins soon, with Sports Day as the major event. Good luck everyone.
