Our school motto Excellence For All reflects our philosophy: that we should have the highest expectations of students and staff. We expect everyone in the school community to work hard to ensure that all students realise their potential. Our academic results and all performance indicators demonstrate this. Despite serving one of the 10% most disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the country, with an intake whose prior attainment is below the national average, almost all our key indicators are at or above the national average, with no significant differences between groups. Maximising achievement is our number one priority but our motto also makes clear our inclusive approach; we do not give up on any child. There have been no permanent exclusions for eight years and 99% of students leave school with good GCSE grades.
We believe in provision of the same high quality for all, but with a curriculum tailored to meet the distinctive needs of different groups of students. Our curriculum model is based on the concept of three distinct bands within the school, providing appropriately for students of differing aptitudes and abilities:
