Welcome to the new academic year 2023-2024!

I hope you have all enjoyed a restful summer break – the children and staff have certainly returned in good spirits and ready for the year ahead! It has been wonderful to welcome our young people back this week and to see them settle quickly into their SRS ways of working and learning.

As we start the year, it is a great time to set our personal goals and think about what we would like to celebrating by the end of the year. Our young people have spent time this week thinking about this, and we encourage them to share their aims for the year ahead with you so that we can all help them stay on track to achieve their very best.

In the summer term we celebrated fantastic results for our primary children who had completed important assessments in May/June. Today, I’m delighted to share with you the successes of our students in Year 11 and Year 13, whose hard work and commitment to their learning resulted in fantastic outcomes:

Y11 GCSE: over 73% of students achieved grades 9-4 in both English and Maths

Amongst the highest GCSE achievers are one student who achieved grade 9s in all subjects, four students who secured nine grade 9 or 8, and at least sixteen students who all achieved nine grades 7-9.

Early indications show that all students have secured their next steps in their 16-18 education, with 138 students enrolled at SRS Sixth Form.

Y13 A Level: 100% pass rate, 88% A*-C, 62% A*-B = SRS one of the top LBBD sixth forms

Just a few of the many successes for SRS Sixth Form include:

  • Ismail (A*, A*, A*, A) Medicine – University of Cambridge
  • Syeda (A*, A, A ) English – University of Cambridge
  • Prapti (A*, A, A, B) Computer Science – Kings College London
  • Valeria (A,A,A) Computer Science – University of Bath
  • Holly (A, A, A ) Chemistry – University of Bath
  • Brainard (A*, A*, A ) degree apprenticeship KPMG
  • Leena (A*, A, A) Psychology – Kings College London
  • Olivia (A*, A, B) English Literature – Kings College London
  • Nelson (A*, A, A) PPE – University of Warwick
  • Mahiba (A, A, A) International Relations – SOAS
  • Jainlin (A*, A, A) Primary Education – University of Greenwich

Our congratulations to all of our past Year 11 and Year 13 students on your achievements and the commitment you showed throughout which led to these fantastic results – we wish you continued success and look forward to you supporting SRS as alumni in the future.

I know that these successes will inspire all our young people to work hard to achieve their personal best – it looks different for each of us, and is about academic success as well as our individual personal development, which is such a big part of school life here at SRS.

So, here’s to a great year ahead for all of our students, staff and families. For now, I hope you have a restful weekend and enjoy this lovely weather!
