Yesterday we welcomed our governors for their annual visit day, looking at all areas of the school’s practice and supportively challenging colleagues as we work to ensure the very best standards for all students and staff across the school.
Firstly, governors expressed their thanks to staff for their continued hard work and commitment. They were incredibly impressed by what they saw of our curriculum and how it is delivered in lessons. They commented on the high levels of student engagement in lessons, the exemplary behaviour seen across the school and students told them, in detail, about their learning and the progress they are making.
Governors also conveyed their thanks to students for their positive attitudes towards their learning and the efforts they are making to achieve their very best, with thanks to parents for your continued support and encouragement of your children, and your positive work with the school as we collectively aim to ensure each child achieves their full potential.
Having our governor visit on World Book Day made it even more special, with governors able to enjoy the primary Drop Everything and Read activity and the story of the golden egg, whilst secondary students took part in special lesson starter activities to engage with different text genres with some thought-provoking reflections.
Huge thanks to all staff who planned and organised events across the school, from fierce classroom door competitions to a wildly wacky fancy dress – the school was buzzing!
International Women’s Day has been commemorated today with staff wearing green, purple and white. The day falls just before we also celebrate those special women in our lives on Mother’s Day this Sunday.
Thank you to all the women across our school community and beyond who inspire, guide, care and love us. Please take a look at a beautiful tribute to our mums in the primary section of this week’s newsletter.
Our thoughts are with those for whom Mother’s Day is a difficult day – I hope you are able to take strength from the remarkable women who surround you and those closest to you.
The beginning of next week will also mark the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan for those who observe. We look forward to welcoming some of you to our Grand Iftar event next week. Final confirmation details will be sent by Wednesday.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
