wp_20161201_17_18_56_proThursday 1st December, the sixth form U19 netball team travelled to Forest Gate to challenge rivals St Angela’s Ursuline. Sydney Russell began with a fiery start leading 7 – 1 in the first 10 minute quarter. Bathelina K. drove in with a powerful interception as we turned the centre pass into our possession.

By the second quarter, St. Angela’s Ursuline were still struggling to push double figures far behind with a score of 21 – 4. Zainab B. and Precious A. double marked the GS while Jada J. blocked the GA out of the circle resulting in penalty pass for Sydney Russell.

As the third quarter quickly approached, Priscilla I. and Korede S. showed off their shooting skills as they landed 360 turns and at one point shot a goal as the ball bounced off the thin netball post by a poor attempt of defence by the rivals. As we all sprinted back in for the centre pass, Jaydah A. received the ball and passed on as Jessica M.J drove across to make a beautiful overhead pass directly into the shooting circle ending in a goal.

The 40th minute and the final quarter, Karina M. upped her defensive skills by intercepting a difficult overhead pass assisted by Jaida O. who sprinted forward to receive the ball and pass it straight onto the shooters. The whistle blew and the game ended as Sydney Russell won comfortably at 40 -9. Beating their personal team high score of 33 goals for.

‘Player of the Match’ = Bathelina K.

Well played girls!
