Announcement Update
As you are aware schools across the country have been responding to concerns around the Corona virus.
During half- term a group of Sydney Russell students and staff were skiing in Italy. Our students were not in the area that has been quarantined. Nevertheless, all staff and students on the trip have been sent home and parents are currently keeping their children at home for the next two weeks to err on the side of caution.
The advice regarding asking students and staff to stay away from school for two weeks is not the advice given by PHE. The area of travel for Sydney Russell School is not in one of the specified regions and therefore would be classified as Category 2.
Category 2: Travellers do not need to undertake any special measures, but if they develop symptoms they should self-isolate and call NHS 111.
Whilst we have no cases of the virus, the action taken by the school is to ensure the safety of all children and to completely minimise any risk of infection. I will continue to keep the situation under constant review and adapt our actions as necessary.
