Last night, OFQUAL (the exams regulator) confirmed that students will be given their Centre Assessed Grades this year (or keep their standardised grade if it was higher than their CAG). This means a number of elements to consider for our A/AS Level students:
1. There is now no need to appeal if your mock grade was higher than your result given on Thursday – your Centre Assessed Grade is now your actual result. If you do not know your Centre Assessed Grades, please email exams@sydneyrussellschool.com
2. These results will be released officially to you as soon as we receive (hopefully at the end of this week)
3. If you have a university place that was rejected due to your grades being standardised down, you need to contact them as a matter of urgency to explain that your CAGs are sufficient to get you the palce. If they ask for proof of your Centre Assessed Grades, please email exams@sydneyrussellschool.com.
4. We are here to support in terms of university places, please get in contact if you need advice on how to proceed (email Ms Dryden or Ms Greenwood).
5. You are able to release yourself from any offers you took on Results Day through clearing or as an insurance offer, but ONLY do this if you have confirmed your 1st choice offer with your 1st choice university. DO NOT release yourself from any offer until you have confirmed your alternative
6. Some universities may now have filled their places – if this is case, please contact us for advice on your next steps
7. The appeals process for your CAG is very limited – you can only appeal if you have evidence of bias or discrimination (the appeals procedure is attached to this post)
GCSE:
On Thursday morning (20th) at 9am, you will receive your results via your school email as planned. These will be your Centre Assessed Grades. We are still waiting for confirmation for Media Voc and ICT in terms of how your grades will be issued. The email you receive will have links for booking appointments. You will need to book one for the following reasons:
1. You wish to resit an exam in November
2. You are unsure of your next steps (college, 6th Form, apprenticeships)
3. You wish to discuss you Centre Assessed Grade (remembering that appeal options are very limited and can only be appealed in case of evidence of bias or discrimination)
