Dear Parents/Carers,

The Charity Committee of the School Council will be holding a coffee morning for staff, parents and other invited guests on Tuesday 9th May. Guests are welcome to arrive and leave at any point between 10:30 and 12:30. The coffee morning is to raise money for the charity Macmillan Cancer Support. This is a cause the school has supported for many years but this year’s fund raiser is particularly relevant for us as it is held in the memory of Dave Holden. Dave was a Maths teacher and Head of Year at Sydney Russell for many years. He retired a few years ago and died of cancer in December.

I’m writing to ask for your support for this event. You can help in two ways.

First, you could donate cakes and biscuits to be served at the coffee morning. These can be left at Reception at anytime between 8:30 and 4:00 on Monday 8th May or until 10:00 on Tuesday 9th May. Any plates or tins that you would like returned should be labelled with your child’s name and form.

Secondly, you could join us. For safeguarding reasons, entry is by ticket only. Tickets cost £2 and coffee and cakes are included in the price. If you are interesting in attending please contact Mrs Russell for a ticket.

I look forward to meeting you on May 9th.

Yours faithfully,
Mrs D. Russell

Director of Student Development
